Street names were only introduced in Bleckmar in 2001 after the majority of residents voted in favor of them in a poll.

On February 1, 1971 Bleckmar was incorporated into the city of Bergen.

The rural village

About five kilometers northwest of Bleckmar is the highest elevation of the Südheide and one of the highest elevations of the Lüneburg Heath, the Falkenberg with 150 m above sea level . Due to the winds falling from the hills, loess dust was blown in the vicinity of Bleckmar up to two meters thick. Extensive floating sand islands were formed east of the town. This created one of the most fertile soils in the southern heath. These areas were used for arable farming in the past. The fact that this area was settled many thousands of years ago is proven, for example, by the grave finds near Bleckmar "Wittenberg" and Wardböhmen from the Older Bronze Age (1800–1100 BC) or the seven stone houses located about 10 km to the south-west , which are from the Neolithic date. Many old farms are still preserved, some of which were first mentioned in the 14th century . Today the buildings are listed . In 1550 a water mill was built on the Meiße . It operated as a flour mill until 1973 .

In 1910 the remainder of the Celle – Soltau railway line , which until then ended in Bergen , was extended to Soltau and put into operation on April 23, 1910. From then on the railway line also ran through Bleckmar. The place received a train station. Passenger traffic was stopped in 1977. Since then, the route has only been used for military and freight traffic.

The "Worth"

The center of the old village is the "Worth" , a square lined with oak trees. Originally the location of the “Klötzenhof”, which was granted the rights of a noble-free (exempt from taxes) property that was eligible for parliament . In the late Middle Ages it was the seat of the Billunger and fiefdoms of the Dukes of Braunschweig-Lüneburg . The estate was first mentioned in 866.
