Bobby Bukowski

Robert "Bobby" Bukowski (* 1953 in New York City ) is an American cameraman and university professor .

Life

After Bobby Bukowski completed his Masters in Biochemistry at the State University of New York in Stone Brook , he decided against a further medical career and began to travel extensively in Europe and Asia. He had his first contact with photography as a photo assistant in Paris before he later worked as a cameraman for a documentary about pilgrim Buddhists on the Ganges under the guidance of the Dalai Lama . On his return to the USA , he enrolled at New York University to study cinematography at the Tisch School of the Arts .

Bukowski's career began in 1985 with his first job as a self-employed cameraman for the drama One Week Marriage Period , which made him known primarily in independent film . Few projects received greater international attention, including Arlington Road , Saved! - The High School Missionaries and The Messenger - The last message counted.

Bukowski works as a lecturer at the Tisch School of the Arts Asia in Singapore at irregular intervals .

In 2018 he was appointed to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences , which awards the Oscars every year.
