Robert T. "Bobby" Farnham (born January 21, 1989 in North Andover , Massachusetts ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Springfield Thunderbirds of the American Hockey League since October 2017 and is on the left for them Winger plays.
Career
Farnham, whose father was a professional Canadian football player and played for the Toronto Argonauts in the Canadian Football League , grew up in his native North Andover , Massachusetts , and attended high school there . In 2008, the striker began attending Brown University and played there for the local ice hockey team in ECAC Hockey , a division in the game operations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . Overall, Farnham stayed at college for four years and was appointed to the ECAC's All-Academic Team in all four seasons.
After graduating from university in March 2012, the attacker switched to the professional camp without drafting . First he joined the Providence Bruins from the American Hockey League on the basis of a trial contract for amateurs ( Amateur Tryout Offer ) for one month , for which he completed three games. Then he ran for the league rivals Worcester Sharks in as many games. With the beginning of the 2012/13 season Farnham signed a contract with the Wheeling Nailers from the ECHL . There he was able to recommend himself with four scorer points in nine missions, so that in early November 2012 he was loaned to the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins from the AHL. They took him under contract just a month later. At the end of the season, his expiring contract was extended by one year by the cooperation partner of the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins, the Pittsburgh Penguins from the National Hockey League , and made valid for the NHL. Nevertheless, the winger remained in the AHL for the entire 2013/14 season , but received a new one-year contract in the summer of 2014. During the 2014-15 season , Farnham finally made his NHL debut, playing eleven times for Pittsburgh. But mainly he continued to play for Wilkes-Barre / Scranton in the AHL.
After his contract was extended by a year for the third time in July 2015, the American finally made it into the NHL squad for the Pittsburgh Penguins for the 2015/16 season . After three missions, the Penguins tried to send the striker to the farm team in the AHL via the waiver at the end of October . In this attempt, however, the New Jersey Devils secured the services of the attacker. For the Devils, Farnham completed 50 games over the rest of the season and posted ten scorer points, including eight goals. Since his expiring contract had not been extended this time, the attacker switched to the Canadiens de Montréal as a free agent in July 2016 . There he belonged to the squad of the AHL farm team St. John's IceCaps after the pre-season and spent the season there, while he was also used three times for the Canadiens. In August 2017 he received a trial contract with the New York Rangers , which did not result in a permanent engagement. He was then signed by the Springfield Thunderbirds from the AHL at the end of October 2017 .
