The gmina wiejska Bochnia [ 'bɔxɲa ] is an independent rural community in the powiat Bochnia in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship in Poland . Its seat is in the city of Bochnia ( German salt mountain ). It has an area of ​​131 km², on which 19,955 people live (June 30, 2019).

history

When Poland was first partitioned in 1772, the area became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire (from 1804).

From 1975 to 1998 the municipality was part of the Tarnów Voivodeship .
