Geographical location

The small village is located in a floodplain at the bend of the Eitra about 10 km south of the district town of Bad Hersfeld .

history

According to the Marburg archive, Bodes was first mentioned in 1396. The Dorfbach flowing through the village divided the village into the southern part of the Fulda Abbey and the northern part with the mill belonging to the Hersfeld Abbey and later the Landgraviate of Hesse until modern times . The lower jurisdiction lay with the Buchenau court , which included the villages and hamlets of Bodes, Branders, Buchenau, Erdmannrode , Fischbach, Giesenhain and Soislieden and was a fiefdom of the Lords of Buchenau .

In 1680 the village consisted of 10 households. In 1895 it had 185 inhabitants, and after the Second World War it had its largest population in 1950 with 270 inhabitants. Today it has about 200 inhabitants.

On August 1, 1972, Bodes was incorporated into the municipality of Hauneck as part of the regional reform in Hesse .
