The Great Kinel ( Russian Большой Кинель ( Bolshoi Kinel )) is a right, 437 km long tributary of the Samara in the southeast of the European part of Russia .
course
The Great Kinel rises in the north of the Orenburg Oblast , in the northern part of the Obschtschi Syrt ridge , not far from the border with the Republic of Bashkortostan . From there it first flows in a north-west and west direction through the agriculturally used steppe landscape .
The river takes in numerous tributaries and eventually passes the town of Buguruslan just before it reaches the border with Samara Oblast . It now flows in a predominantly westerly direction through the east of Samara Oblast, where it flows past Pochwistnewo in the north.
After the confluence of the Sawruschka , the Big Kinel turns to the southwest, where the Little Kinel joins at Selo Kinel-Cherkassy . It then flows further to the southwest, past Otradny , before turning west again before the confluence of Kutuluk and Sarbai .
A little later, the Great Kinel reaches the Samara at Ust-Kinelski and Kinel , about 20 km east of the Oblast capital Samara .
During the ice-free period from mid-April to November, the Great Kinel is navigable on its lower reaches.
