history

Pochwistnewo train station

Pochwistnewo was created from 1888 during the construction of the railway line Samara - Slatoust ( Samara-Slatouster Railway ), which was extended a little later to Chelyabinsk (opened in 1892) and formed the basis for the original route of the Trans-Siberian Railway. The name is derived from a family name that can be traced back to the 16th century in the form of Posvisnew . In the years 1902–1904, the station was expanded considerably, and the associated place began to grow.

In 1935 (according to other sources as early as 1929) it became the administrative center of a Rajon. In 1939, oil deposits were discovered in the area . In 1947 Pochwistnewo received city rights.

Since September 4, 1997 there has been a town partnership with Prenzlau in Germany .
