Otradny ( Russian Отра́дный ) is a city in Russia in Samara Oblast . It has 48,356 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010) and is located about 90 km east of the regional capital Samara on the Bolshoi Kinel river (river system of the Volga ).
history
Otradny (originally: Otradnoje ) was laid out as a village in the 1920s. In 1946 it grew around the workers' settlement Muchanowo , which was created in the course of the development of an oil field , one year later the village and the settlement merged to form Otradny. The place has had city status since 1956.

Economy and Infrastructure
Otradny is an industrial city with a focus on petroleum processing . There are also factories there for the production of building materials, food and textiles.
The city has a train station, from which there are train connections to other regions of Russia via Samara.
