Bool (spelling BOOL) is a German rock band that originated in Dinslaken but is based in Duisburg . After it was founded in 2007, the group gained national attention for the first time with its promotional song for the US companies HP , Intel and Microsoft .
Band history
In 2007 singer and guitarist Karsten Dittberner and drummer Jens Geilert got to know each other while working. They met quickly to write songs together and Andreas Galwas on bass closed the circle for now.
In the same year their first three-song EP No Return was released . In January 2008 the group officially appeared for the first time and gave their first concerts in the surrounding scene clubs and played in the opening act of the "Rock mich am Arsch" - Germany tour of the band Debbie Rockt, which they invited on their tour.
The US companies HP, Intel and Microsoft became aware of your song You and Me and used it as a promotional song for a nationwide marketing campaign. This helped the young band to gain a larger audience in one fell swoop. During the year they released their second limited edition EP Gift Pack .
At the beginning of 2009 the band announced that they would record a new studio album in the same year. In September 2009 the band announced on their homepage that their third album is called My Spirit and should be released on February 5, 2010. It was produced in Absurd Studio Hamburg by producer Thomas Schröder.
The first single from the new album, The Spirit & Me & My Special Guitar , has already been released, including a music video . The long friendship between drummer Geilert and actor Armin Krug ( Balko ) enabled the band to engage Armin Krug for a role in the music video The Spirit & Me & My Special Guitar . In February 2010, the single was recorded on the TV music channel iM1 on rotation and helped the band to further increase in awareness.
In May / June 2010 the band was on the road with their "Durst Unplugged Tour" and immediately afterwards went on their Ibiza tour. At that time the band was traveling a lot and played with Dellé (Seeed), Monsters of Liedermaching , Livingston and Kissin 'Dynamite , among others .
In 2014 they accepted the invitation to take part in the 20th anniversary of the band In Extremo on the open-air stage Loreley with another festival under the name "20 True Years". The musicians got to know the music producer Jon Caffery , who produced for Die Toten Hosen for years .
Pre-production of the new album began in December 2015. At the beginning of 2016, the musicians and Jon Caffery went to Maarwegstudio2 (former EMI Studios) in Cologne at the operator and music producer Wolfgang “Stackman” Stach until well into the year . At the end of August 2016, the last work on the new album Fly With Me was completed. In May 2017, Bool signed a contract with Boersma Records and released the album Fly With Me on August 25, 2017 . On September 30th, Bool presented their new album at Don´t Panic (Essen) together with Preacher, Klaus Vanscheidt and Michael Bormann at the “Kult on Tour”.
On December 9, 2017, the musicians were nominated in three categories at the award ceremony of the 35th German Rock and Pop Prize. They received gold in the categories "Best Rock Album 2017" and "Best Hard Rock Album 2017".
