Borau is a village and part of the city of Weißenfels in the Burgenland district in Saxony-Anhalt .

Borau with the districts Selau and Kleben was an independent municipality until it was incorporated into the town of Weißenfels. It was incorporated into the city of Weißenfels on January 1, 1995.

history

The origin of the place is presumed to be a settlement by the Slavs , since the structure of the place corresponds to the typical type of settlement of the so-called Rundlingdörfer . The first written mention of the place, as Borowe , comes from the purchase of three Hufen land by an abbot of a Merseburg monastery in 1251. In 1945 the communities of Selau and Kleben were incorporated.
