Borek (German Worka ) is a district of the municipality Pšov in the Czech Republic . It is located four kilometers southwest of Žlutice and belongs to the Okres Karlovy Vary .

Borek is located in the Tepler highlands on the left side of the brook Borecký potok ( Workabach ), which flows north of the village in a deeply cut valley of the Střela . To the east of Borek the brook is dammed in the large pond Borecký rybník, to the northwest below the castle ruins of Štědrý hrádek it feeds the Mlýnský rybník. To the north rises the Pohořelec (554 m) with the ruins of Štědrý hrádek. To the northeast lies the Nevděk (630 m). In the west runs the Rakovník - Bečov nad Teplou railway line , which runs north of Borek through the Borecký potok valley and crosses the creek loops in two tunnels at Pohořelec. The railway station "Borek u Žlutic" is one and a half kilometers northwest in the valley near Nový Dvůr.

Neighboring towns are Semtěš in the north, Hradský Dvůr and Kobylé in the northeast, Pšov in the east, Domašín in the southeast, Zbraslav in the south, Prohoř in the southwest, Štědrá in the west and Nový Dvůr and Mostec in the northwest.

history

The first written mention of the village comes from the year 1360. At that time the place belonged to the lordship of Burglin . The village after Štědrá was parish. A chapel was built in Worka in the 19th century .

In 1850 the political community Worka was established in the Luditz district . In 1880 Worka consisted of 26 houses including the Workaer Mühle and the Vorwerk Neuhof and had 139 German-speaking residents. In 1930 the village had 139 inhabitants again, in 1939 only 128. After the Munich Agreement , Worka was added to the German Reich in 1938 and until 1945 belonged to the Luditz district . After the end of the Second World War, Borek came back to Czechoslovakia and was classified in the Okres Toužim in 1949. On January 1, 1961 the incorporation to Pšov took place , at the same time the village became part of the Okres Karlovy Vary. Borek is a purely agricultural village. The owner of Borecký Mlýn operates fish farming. Borek consists of 15 houses in which 34 people each lived in 1991 and 2001.
