Boris McGiver (born January 23, 1962 in Cobleskill , Schoharie County , New York ) is an American actor in film, television and theater.

life and work

His father, John McGiver, was also an actor. Boris and his nine siblings were raised by his mother Ruth. McGiver attended Ithaca Music School and played French horn . In 1984 he was accepted into the US Air Force Academy, but ultimately did not take part in the units. Instead, he acquired the Institute of Fine Arts of New York University to master .

After graduating, he played a few film roles. After the turn of the millennium, he received recurring roles in well-known television productions, including The Wire , Person of Interest and Boardwalk Empire . From 2013 to 2018 McGiver acted as Tom Hammerschmidt on the political series House of Cards . Here he played the editor-in-chief of the fictional daily newspaper The Washington Herald.
