Reviews

David Rooney wrote in Variety magazine on April 12, 2004 that it takes chutzpah to borrow ideas from Billy Wilder and Blake Edwards . Collette played more nuanced, had better timing and was more successful than Vardalos, who nonetheless played “lively” and “attractive”. The camaraderie between the two actresses is "contagious".

The lexicon of international films described the film as a “fast-paced antics”, which “only stays for moments with deep reflections on gender and role understanding, being gay and the search for identity” and relies on “wild slapstick hustle and bustle”. However, he "always succeeds in balancing subtlety and slapstick", as he also seems like a "sympathetic romantic comedy full of warmth and affection for the refreshingly played characters".
