The boxing competitions at the Commonwealth Games , which (since the Commonwealth Games are described as the third largest multisport event in the world after the Olympic Games and the Asian Games ) are the third largest boxing competitions of a multisport event, are the most important boxing competitions of the Commonwealth of Nations . They are organized by AIBA . Since the first event in Hamilton in 1930 , the best boxers of the respective weight classes from the countries of the Commonwealth of Nations meet every four years (exception: 1942 and 1946, because no Commonwealth Games were played in those years) . Women's competitions took place for the first time in 2014 in Glasgow in three weight classes ( fly , light and middleweight ).
