Buildings on the Brandenkopf

Brandenkopffturm

The 32 m high Brandenkopf tower has existed since 1929 , a stone observation tower that offers a wide view of the Black Forest landscape , on clear days even as far as the Alps , Vosges and Swabian Alb . Before the construction of the stone tower, wooden predecessors had already existed.

The Brandenkopf DB0TN relay radio station of the DARC Haslach / Kinzigtal is installed on the tower . It is equipped for relay operation in voice radio and packet radio (9.6k) in the 70 cm band and a converter for the automatic packet reporting system in the 2 meter band . There are direct Hamnet links to the relays at Offenburg University ( DM0ZOG ) and to Freudenstadt ( DB0SKF ).

The Black Forest Association maintains a hiking home with an attached restaurant on the Brandenkopf. The favorable location of the mountain with an average wind speed of 5.8 m / s at a height of 10 m is used by a wind turbine .

In the summer of 2002, the Brandenkopf community wind turbine was put into operation as a second wind turbine approx. 350 m west of the hiking home. This Enercon E-58 system , which has a nominal output of 1000 kW with a hub height of 70 meters (100 meters total height), produces an average of over 2,000,000 kWh of electrical energy annually at the Brandenkopf, making it one of the best in Germany Systems in their performance class. In 2006, over 2300 full load hours were achieved.
