Brayden Burke (born January 1, 1997 in Edmonton , Alberta ) is a Canadian ice hockey player . He has been under contract with the Arizona Coyotes in the National Hockey League (NHL) since March 2018 and also works for their farm team , the Tucson Roadrunners , in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Career
Brayden Burke comes from Edmonton and played there in his youth with the Edmonton Canadians in the Alberta Midget Hockey League . At the Bantam Draft in 2012, Burke was selected in the seventh round in 145th position by the Red Deer Rebels , for which he was used for the first time in the Western Hockey League (WHL), the highest regional junior league, during the 2013/14 season . Across the seasons, however , the winger only played three games for the Red Deer Rebels before he was sent to league rivals Lethbridge Hurricanes to gain more gaming experience. In the 2015/16 season , Burke was a regular with the Hurricanes, played 71 games and scored 109 points . With 82 assists he was also (together with Adam Brooks ) the best goal setter in the league, so that he was elected to the WHL East Second All-Star Team .
After poor performance during a pre-season training camp for the 2016/17 season , Brayden Burke was given to the Moose Jaw Warriors in November 2016 in exchange for Ryan Bowen . The general manager of the Hurricanes, Peter Anholt , described Burke with hindsight as a "distraction" for the team. With the Moose Jaw Warriors, the winger won the Scotty Munro Memorial Trophy as the best point team of the season in the 2017/18 season, in the play-offs the team was then eliminated in the conference semi-finals. He was personally called back to the WHL East Second All-Star Team after he had increased his statistics to 113 points scorer.
On March 1, 2018, Burke was signed as an undrafted player by the Arizona Coyotes of the National Hockey League , where he signed a three-year entry - level contract. In Arizona, the attacking player has been playing for the Tucson Roadrunners , the Coyotes' farm team , in the American Hockey League since the 2018/19 season .
