Brett Jaeger (born January 18, 1983 in Peace River , Alberta , Canada ) is a German - Canadian ice hockey goalkeeper who will be under contract with the Hannover Scorpions from the Oberliga Nord from the 2020/21 season.
Career
Brett Jaeger began his career with the Drayton Valley Thunder from the Alberta Junior Hockey League and was selected by the Medicine Hat Tigers in the eighth round of the 1998 WHL Bantam Draft . Before the 2000/01 season he moved to the Tigers in the Western Hockey League and was used there a total of 12 times. In 2001 he moved within the WHL to the Vancouver Giants and in September 2002 to the Saskatoon Blades .
At the beginning of the 2003/04 season he left the blades again and returned to the Drayton Valley Thunder , where he was named the most valuable player in the AJHL at the end of the season . In the following years he was under contract with various ECHL franchises before he was active for the Texas Brahmas in the Central Hockey League from 2007 to 2010 . In 2009 he won the league championship with the Brahmas and the Brahmas received the Ray Miron President's Cup for it .
In 2010 he decided to move to Europe and was signed by the Coventry Blaze from the Elite Ice Hockey League , the highest ice hockey league in the United Kingdom . There he quickly got used to the larger ice surface compared to North America and showed an appealing performance. In summer 2011 he moved to Copenhagen Hockey in the Danish AL-Bank Ligaen before he was signed by the Fischtown Pinguins from Bremerhaven in January 2012 .
In January 2013 Jaeger received German citizenship and was no longer included in the foreign contingent of the second German division. In April 2013 Jaeger extended his contract by one year and won the DEL2 championship with the Pinguins . He then extended his contract one more time before moving from Bremerhaven to Dresden in May 2015. With the Eislöwen he reached the playoff semi-finals in the 2015/16 season and showed excellent performances before moving from Dresden to the Löwen Frankfurt in the 2016/17 season.
