The Brockenstraße runs entirely in the Harz / Saxony-Anhalt Nature Park and, outside of Schierke, in the Harz National Park . It leads, from the confluence of the Ottoweg, as a continuation of the Hagenstraße as the main road north-west through the village and then further uphill to the summit region of the Brocken.

At the plant, the road crosses the stream and then runs parallel uphill to the stream on the right. After a hairpin bend ( 676  m ), it gradually leaves the valley of the Kalten Bode and crosses the Schwarze Schluftwasser again in another hairpin bend located a little further north (approx.  768  m ).

The road then runs below the Schluftkopf on the left-hand side and the Stangenklippe in an easterly direction and is crossed by the Brocken Railway and immediately afterwards by the parallel path . Shortly afterwards the Brockenstrasse turns north. Uphill on the right, the Alte Bobbahn hiking trail joins Brockenstrasse. On the left in the forest is the Mönchstein , a little later an unpaved path, signposted as a shortcut, leads here towards Brocken. The Mönchsbruch extends to the right . In the area of the Brocken bed on the mountain pass Gelber Brink ( 900.6  m ) between the Heinrichshöhe ( 1039.5  m ) in the west and the Renneckenberg ( 933  m ) in the east as well as between the Ilse in the north and a nameless small tributary of the cold Bode in the south a junction with two forest paths, where the road turns west. There the Glashüttenweg hiking trail from the direction of Drei Annen Hohne meets the road from the east and the Gelber Brink hiking trail from the direction of Ilsenburg from the north .

After the mountain pass, Brockenstrasse continues in a long arc to the west. Uphill on the left, the shortcut meets the road again. To the right in the forest are the source of the Ilse and north (uphill) the Heinrichshöhe. From the left, the Eckerlochstieg hiking trail meets the road from the Eckerloch . There the Brockenstrasse is crossed again by the Brockenbahn at the source streams of the Black Schluftwasser. Immediately afterwards, the Neuer Goetheweg hiking trail meets the road from the uphill section .

In the right-angled bone breaker curve ( 1000  m ) the Brockenstraße bends to the northeast. After that, it leads in an arc, steadily increasing about halfway around the summit region. Then she passes the Brocken train station and reaches a point near the mountain top at the Brockenhotel . The cloud house and the Brockenuhr on the mountain top are in the immediate vicinity .
