Federal Festival (Schützen)
The federal festival (also known as the federal shooting festival ) takes place annually on a September weekend. It is organized by the Federation of Historic German Rifle Brotherhoods in close cooperation with a local Rifle Brotherhood . 20,000 to 40,000 shooters regularly take part in this festival. At least as many visitors line the path of the parade on the final day.
Events
- An ecumenical service takes place on Fridays to kick off . This is followed by the laying of the wreath and the tattoo .
- On Saturdays, the kings are determined in the royal shooting. This is followed by the proclamation of the federal king and the diocesan kings, usually combined with a reception by the host city. Both evenings end with a big party.
- Sunday begins with an open-air festival service, followed by the parade of all registered shooting clubs with many music bands.
