Nieder-Rosbach Castle

The castle Nieder-Rosbach is a Grade II listed former water castle with the address Haingraben 17 near the church in the district of Nieder-Rosbach the city Rosbach in Wetteraukreis in Hesse .

history

The origins of the castle go back to the 13th century when it was the seat of the Lords of Carben . 1356 is the year the castle was first mentioned - as a fief of the Counts of Hanau . In 1367 the Feste Haus was handed over to the von Kolnhausen family , from whom it came to the Löw von Steinfurth as a Hanau fief . In 1412 they had to grant the Count of Hanau the right to open . From 1503 to 1816 the castle was owned by the von Greiffenclau zu Vollrads . In 1710 the new mansion was built, which is still standing today. In 1913, the municipality acquired the building and the property after it had to endure multiple changes of ownership. The property was initially used for residential purposes before it was extensively renovated and received administrative offices.

description

The mansion, which was renovated in 2011, has two floors on a high base. The base and the first floor are built in solid construction, the second floor in half-timbered construction . The moat around the building has been partially restored at its southeast corner. The moat is crossed by a three-arched quarry stone bridge that leads to the main entrance of the house.

Todays use

The back of the building, which is owned by the city of Rosbach, has modern lifts. It is used as a public meeting place.

Others

In front of the moated castle, there is another square that is used as a festival area. He also creates the castle-church line of sight. The building of the former Nieder-Rosbach primary school, which is now used as a village community center, is also located on this square . Originally this building was the farm yard of the Wasserburg.
