The castle Stornfels even Sturmfels and Sloz Sturmfels called, is a Outbound medieval hilltop castle on a 290  m above sea level. NHN high mountain cone at the highest point of the village of Stornfels , a district of the city of Nidda in the Wetterau district in Hesse .

The castle was built in the 11th century by the Lords of Ulfa and mentioned in 1206. The castle served to secure the "right Niddastraße" that led from Frankfurt am Main to Kassel . On January 15, 1353 the castle is mentioned as Sloz Sturmfels in the possession of the Ziegenhain-Nidda counts . 1353 was Count Gottfried VIII. Castle with accessories of the Abbey of Fulda to feud on. Extensions and renovations took place in the 14th century.

In 1837 the evangelical church was built from the former tithe barn and the residential tower of the castle .

From the previous castle complex with corner hump blocks and the beginnings of two Gothic round corner turrets, there are only remains of the wall built into the church, the 18-meter-deep castle well and behind the church remains of the brick pavement of the castle courtyard in the ground.
