Castle stable Ulfa

The Burgstall Ulfa , also known as the Old Castle , describes an abandoned medieval castle in the "Alte Burg" corridor east of the center of Ulfa , a district of the town of Nidda in the Wetterau district in Hesse .

The castle was probably built in the 11th century. In 1129 the associated local nobility, the possible builders of the castle, was first mentioned with Eckehardus de Horlefe . Mentioned several times as witnesses in documents in the 13th century, they probably died out with Guntram von Olphe around 1306. The castle fell by inheritance to the Schweinsberg taverns .

Nothing has survived from the small castle complex, which fell into ruin after 1290 and was secured by ramparts and moats . In 1922 the trenches of the otherwise completely dilapidated castle were found during excavations.
