history

The castle was built in the first half of the 18th century by Franz Carl August Löw von und zu Steinfurth (1716–1744). At that time Nieder-Florstadt belonged to the Staden inheritance , in which the Löw von Steinfurth held significant shares. In 1746 they built another castle in Staden . With the acquisition of the neighboring Mönchshof from the Fulda monastery in 1775, the church patronage also passed to the family.

The mansion was only recently sold and converted into condominiums.

The castle-like complex is located on the northeastern edge of Nieder-Florstadt in the form of a multi-sided courtyard. A smaller park adjoins it to the north-west, the other sides drop slightly towards the Nidda river valley .

The dominant feature is the two-storey mansion on a long rectangular floor plan with the exposed side facing southeast. It is a massive, plastered quarry stone building with corner cuboids and a mansard roof . On the front sides, the first attic is made of half-timbering , the long sides of this storey pierced by a dwelling that was only recently added during renovations. An older building is integrated on the east side and the year 1609 can be seen on the portal.

Most of the outbuildings date from the 18th century and, like the manor house, are also cultural monuments for historical reasons.
