In 1885, the complex was examined by Pastor Vollrath from Presseck, and prehistoric ones were investigatedShards found, their whereabouts today are unknown. description

The castle site is located 555  m above sea level. NN height is on a south-west facing Diabass spur above the confluence of the Rauschbach and the Pfarrgrundbach to the Schlackenmühlbach. Except for the northeast side, the mountain spur drops steeply over rocks to the valley, and was therefore naturally very well protected on these sides. In the northeast, the castle site is adjoined by a slightly rising mountain ridge, which then goes up to the so-called "height" at 677  m above sea level. NN increases. Only on this side did the former castle complex have to be additionally secured by artificial approach obstacles, for this a semicircular section trench was created, which ends in the steep slope at both ends. Its length is about 30 meters, its upper width about six meters. In addition, an outer wall was placed in front of this trench, which reached a height of 1.2 meters, measured from the bottom of the trench to the crest of the wall. The rocky and relatively flat, possibly artificially worked surface of the castle stables is 2.5 meters above the bottom of the trench and is only about eight by six meters in diameter. Remnants of the walls of the former castle have not been preserved.
