Rugendorf Castle
Rugendorf Castle is a castle in Rugendorf .
The castle was built in 1555 by Jörg von Waldenfels and sold to Bamberg Bishop Johann Georg II. Fuchs von Dornheim in 1628/29 . During the Thirty Years' War, the facility was not significantly damaged. In 1727 the roof structure was rebuilt and the building was used as a granary. In the 19th century it was used as a residence. After the Second World War, the roof structure was renewed. The property is now partially owned by the municipality. Extensive renovation work is required in the building, which is still inhabited.
The castle is directly adjacent to the church property . After three floors of broken masonry , there is a multi-storey tapered gable roof . Windows from different epochs are irregularly inserted into the building. Changes such as walled up arches or a bricked-up descent into the cellar can be seen.
