Wartenfels Tower Hill (Bavaria)
Wartenfels tower hill

The Tower Hill Wartenfels is an Outbound medieval motte (moth) about 600 meters west-northwest of the Church of St. Bartholomew in Wartenfels , a district of the market Presseck in the district of Kulmbach in Bavaria . From the former moth enclosure on an old street , the waterway, the square tower hill is still preserved.

description

The castle site, about 35 meters in diameter, is located on the Galgenberg, on a slope that slopes down to the east to a dry valley . The square tower hill was heaped up from gravel and is now only preserved in its original height in the northeast part. The remaining sides of the hill have been removed except for a small remainder. It is surrounded by a ditch which , measured from the outside, has a depth of up to 1.7 meters and up to 1.5 meters from the surface of the hill, thus separating the tower hill from the mountainside. On the outside of the trench, a wall was also piled up, which is only missing on the west side, here it has probably been leveled. The height of the wall is around 0.4 meters measured from the presenter. The surface of the tower hill measures about 14 by 13 meters.

Today the site is protected as ground monument number D-4-5734-0017: Medieval tower hill .
