The castle ruin Wirsberg , also called Wirtesburg , is the ruin of a hilltop castle on the castle rock northwest of the confluence of the Koser and Schorgast rivers in the Wirsberg market in the Upper Franconian district of Kulmbach in Bavaria .

The castle was built around 1200 by the Andechs-Meranien family , mentioned in 1231, 1554 and destroyed in the Thirty Years War . The lords of Wirsberg are named as the former owners of the castle . Only the remains of the wall remain from the former castle.
