The castle was located immediately to the east of the Hohe Straße , a medieval old street , which descended from the plateau . description

The rather small one-piece castle site belongs to the type of the one- storey residence , that is, its only slightly fortified interior is not raised compared to the area in front of the castle. It is located at about 440  m above sea level. NN altitude and thus around 50  meters above the valley floor of the Lösau on a south-west facing mountain spur of the Lösau mountain. Except for the northeast side, the remaining sides of the spur fall very steeply into the valley and were therefore naturally well protected. Only in the north-east does the mountain spur merge into the Jura plateau, rising slightly and had to be paved. For this purpose, a 40-meter-long section wall with an outer ditch that bends at an obtuse angle was created. This rampart ends at both ends in the steep slope, its width is still six meters, its height measured from the inside around two meters. The depth of the trench from the outside is 1.6 meters, the jump height, i.e. the height difference between the ridge and the bottom of the trench, is up to three meters. This section fortification sealed off a fortified inner area of about 32 by 22 meters.
