Busko-Zdrój [ ˈbuskɔ 'zdruɪ̯ ] ( listen ? / I ) is a town in Poland in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship about 50 km south of Kielce . The place is an important health resort with a continental climate , mineral springs and a moor . Audio file / audio sample

history

In the 12th century a church was built on the site of today's Marienkirche. The first documentary mention took place in 1166. In 1393 the monastery was granted the right to operate its own thermal brine spa .

In 1267 the settlement was granted city rights . In 1393 the Polish king stayed in the monastery spa.

In 1412 the city received the right to hold a weekly market and twice a year to hold a fair . The cloth trade was of great importance for the city in the 15th to 18th centuries.

In 1795 the place fell to Austria with the 3rd division of Poland . In 1809 Busko-Zdrój came to the Grand Duchy of Warsaw and in 1815 to the Kingdom of Poland . In 1822 648 people lived in the city, which from 1828 was officially allowed to bear the name of a spa. In 1880, 1,585 people lived here.

Busko-Zdrój's town charter was revoked by the Russian Tsar from 1869 to 1916 . After the end of the First World War , the place came back to the newly formed Poland .

On September 9, 1939, the Germans reached the place and occupied it. Two Jewish ghettos were established in 1941 (see also: Synagogue (Busko-Zdrój) ).

The Red Army marched into the village on August 6, 1944, but could not assert itself and was beaten again by the Germans six days later and driven out of the village. On January 12, 1945, the Soviet army launched another attack on the city and was able to liberate the place on January 13, 1945.

1963 got Busko-Zdrój with the railway line Sitkówka-Nowiny-Busko-Zdrój , on which however since 2004 the passenger traffic is stopped, a railway connection.

The urban and rural community has an area of ​​235.88 km² and around 16,598 people live there (as of June 30, 2014). The municipality has shares in the Szaniec Landscape Park and the Nida Landscape Park .

In the vicinity of the place there are mineral waters and a moor, which serve as natural remedies. The water is anti-inflammatory, anti-rheumatic, detoxifying and has a regenerative effect. It lowers blood cholesterol and sugar levels and prevents atheromatosis. The water is obtained through deep boreholes located in the area of ​​the spa; there are sulfide, bromide and iodide waters.
