Célio da Silveira Calixto Filho (born May 8, 1973 in Passos , Minas Gerais ) is a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop in Rio de Janeiro .

Life

Célio da Silveira Calixto Filho first studied engineering at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro . From 1996 to 1997 he studied philosophy at the Philosophical Faculty João Paulo II in Rio de Janeiro and from 1998 to 2001 Catholic theology at the Theological Institute in Rio de Janeiro. Célio da Silveira Calixto Filho was ordained a deacon on December 8, 2001 . He received on 28 September 2002 in the Catedral Metropolitana de Sao Sebastiao de Rio de Janeiro by the Archbishop of Rio de Janeiro, Eusébio Scheid SCJ , the sacrament of Holy Orders .

After his ordination, Célio da Silveira Calixto Filho was pastor of the parish of São José Operário in Vila do Pinheiro until October 2005 . From November 2005 to December 2006 he lived in the Trappist Abbey Novo Mundo in Campo do Tenente to examine his vocation to a contemplative life . In January 2007 Célio da Silveira Calixto Filho returned to the Archdiocese of São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro and became parish vicar of the parish of São Brás in Campo Grande . In May of the same year he became pastor of the parish of São Sebastião in Bento Ribeiro . From February 2008 to September 2012 he worked as a spiritual director in the São José seminary in Rio de Janeiro. Then Célio da Silveira Calixto Filho became pastor of the parish of Santos Anjos in Leblon and, in May 2017, pastor of the parish of Nossa Senhora de Fátima in Tomás Coelho . In addition, he obtained a degree in Catholic theology from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro in 2014 . He is also a member of the cathedral chapter at the Catedral Metropolitana de São Sebastião de Rio de Janeiro.

On 27 May 2020 Pope appointed him Francis to the titular of Segia and auxiliary bishop of Rio de Janeiro. The Archbishop of Rio de Janeiro, Orani João Cardinal Tempesta OCist , donated him episcopal ordination on August 22nd of the same year in the Catedral Metropolitana de São Sebastião de Rio de Janeiro ; Co-consecrators were the auxiliary bishops in Rio de Janeiro, Antônio Augusto Dias Duarte and Paulo Alves Romão .
