Location of the municipality

Calañas is a municipality in the province of Huelva in Andalusia ( Spain ). It has 2791 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) and has a community area of 238 km². It is located at 291 m above sea level, about 64 km north of the provincial capital Huelva . There is a connection to Huelva and Extremadura via the railway line to Zafra .

On October 2nd, 2018, the new municipality of La Zarza-Perrunal was founded from parts of the municipality of Calañas .
