Aljaraque is a municipality and also a city in the Spanish province of Huelva . It has 21,260 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) and is about eight kilometers from the provincial capital Huelva . Of all the places in the province, the place has grown the most in the last ten years.

Near the provincial capital Huelva, Aljaraque is on the other side of the river Odiel and the nature reserve Marismas del Odiel . With today's three golf courses, Aljarque is primarily a (winter) quarter for retired and reasonably wealthy Britons.

Attractions

Parish Church of Nuestra Señora de Los Remedios The current complex dates from the 18th century and was built over the remains from the mid-16th century. The last renovation is from the 1940s. Inside there are some remarkable examples of embroidery, such as a work by the Sevillian school Jesus of Nazareth , or two works by the sculptor León Ortega: Virgen de los Remedios and San Sebastian .

Chapel San Sebastian Built on the places of worship for the two patron saints San Sebastian and Nuestra Señora de los Remedios , the chapel is dedicated to the patron saint of San Sebastian.
