Capone is an American drama film directed by Josh Trank about the infamous Chicago mobster Alphonse "Al" Capone . The film was released via video-on-demand on May 12, 2020 . In Germany, the film will be released directly on Blu-ray Disc on October 30, 2020 .

The focus of the plot is the 47-year-old former Chicago gang boss "Al" Capone , who suffers from advanced dementia and has mentally caught up with his past due to an unhealed syphilis disease which developed into neurolues during his 11-year prison sentence in federal prison will while he is in his retirement years in South Florida .

In October 2016 it was announced that Tom Hardy would play the role of "Al" Capone in the film Fonzo (Latin for "Alfonso"), in which Josh Trank would act as a screenwriter and director. Due to Hardy's commitment to another project, the production of the film, which was regularly scheduled for 2017, was postponed.

In March 2018 it was announced that the actors Matt Dillon , Linda Cardellini , Kyle MacLachlan , Kathrine Narducci , Jack Lowden , Noel Fisher and Tilda Del Toro were signed for the film.
