The Caribbean Fantasy was a ferry of the American Cruise Ferries .

history

Use as a ferry

The ship was from the shipyard Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Kobe as Victory ( Jap. びくとり , Bikutori ) built and ran on 19 March 1989 by the stack . On July 10, 1989, the delivery to Higashi Nippon Ferry Co. took place. The ship was used under the Japanese flag with home port Muroran on the Muroran - Oarai route.

In September 1998 it was sold to Grandi Navi Veloci . It started sailing under the Italian flag, its home port was Palermo . From March 1999, Grimaldi Lines operated the ship between Palermo and Livorno . In January 2003 the ship switched to the Genoa - Tunis route . From September 2006 it served the route Genoa - Barcelona - Tangier .

In December 2007 it was sold to the Mexican shipping company Baja Ferries and renamed the Chihuahua Star in February 2008 . Home port was La Paz, Mexico. From 2008 the ship was used between La Paz , Mazatlán and Topolobambo .

From March 2011, American Cruise Ferries chartered the ship and used it between San Juan and Mayaquez . From July 26, 2011, the ship sailed as Caribbean Fantasy under the Panamanian flag .

Fire 2016

On August 17, 2016, a fire broke out in the ship's engine room . There were 500 people on board who could be saved. About half were injured. The ship ran aground. On August 20, 2016, the fire in the ship, which was moored at the pier in San Juan, was extinguished.

In August 2017 the ship was sold to Somap International Pte Ltd, the home port was Basseterre , the ship was named Fantasy . On October 6, 2017, the ship, renamed Fantasy , was towed by the Trheintayuno in Aliaga for demolition.
