The Carl-Friedrich-Gauß-Schule Hemmingen ( CFGS Hemmingen for short ) is a cooperative comprehensive school in Hemmingen in the Hanover region . It is located in the district of Hemmingen-Westerfeld on the western edge of the Leineaue and in the immediate vicinity of the Ricklinger Kiesteiche . The school is named after the German mathematician Carl Friedrich Gauß .

The partially integrated all-day school comprises the main school , secondary school and grammar school branches . There are two sports halls, an adjacent sports area and an indoor swimming pool, and the municipal youth center is in the immediate vicinity.
The sporting orientation of the Carl-Friedrich-Gauß-Schule is a specialty. The school is an elite school of sport and has been a certified elite school of football since 2008 . Since September 1998 she has been working with the Lower Saxony Olympic Training Center in Hanover and founded a sports tutorial.
In 1996 the school initiated the first wind class in Lower Saxony . In the field of music and cultural education, there are also collaborations with the Lower Saxony State Theater Hanover , the Sprengel Museum Hanover and the Hanover University of Music, Theater and Media .
The Carl-Friedrich-Gauß-Schule founded a competence center as part of the "Young people discover technology" campaign in cooperation with the Association of German Engineers . In 2009, the project was recognized as a selected location by the Germany - Land of Ideas initiative .
