Carl Aeschbacher

Carl Aeschbacher (born March 31, 1886 in Bümpliz ; † January 29, 1944 in Zurich ) was a German-Swiss choir director and composer. He is the father of the pianist Adrian Aeschbacher and the conductor Niklaus Aeschbacher .

Life

Carl Aeschbacher's father was a milk dealer. He married the daughter of the plow and blacksmith Johannes Kaderli, Ida. He first completed a teacher training course at the teachers' college of the Canton of Bern in Hofwil . He studied composition, singing, choral conducting, organ and piano with Fritz Steinbach at the Conservatorium der Musik in Coeln for another four years . To this he dedicated the piano trio op.2 in 1913 .

From 1913 to 1929 he worked as music director in Trogen. His duties were choir direction and singing lessons at the canton school Trogen , direction of the school orchestra and the mixed choir and organist service at the village church. From 1929 to 1944 he worked at the cantonal high school in Zurich. During this time he also conducted various male choirs in Zurich.
