Carl Hinrichs (born September 18, 1907 in Oldenburg , † December 7, 1967 in Oldenburg) was a German actor .

Life

Carl Hermann Wilhelm Gustav Hinrichs was born as the only son of the businessman Emil Hinrichs and his wife Christine Hinrichs, b. Jürgens was born in Oldenburg. He attended the city boys' school and later the city high school in Oldenburg (today Herbartgymnasium), which he left at Easter 1923. Since he was supposed to take over the wine and spirits business at Haarenstrasse 61 in Oldenburg, he did a commercial apprenticeship as a wine merchant in Bremen, Mainz, Oppenheim and Hamburg. His father allowed him to go to America in 1928. Here he began to study mechanical engineering in New York, which he was unable to complete due to the turmoil in Europe. At the same time he worked in a garage in Port Chester . In 1933 he returned to Oldenburg, studied briefly mechanical engineering at the Polytechnic in Oldenburg, then entered his father's business, married and made his family hobby, acting in Low German, also his hobby.

During the Second World War he was sent to Poland, Russia and France as a reserve officer and in between had the opportunity to perform on various fronts with the August Hinrichs stage. In 1958 he sold the no longer profitable wine and spirits business and became a full-time actor. In 1967 he died after a short illness and was buried in the Gertrudenfriedhof (Oldenburg) in Oldenburg .

Hinrichs was the nephew of August Hinrichs and after his return from the USA in February 1933 became a popular actor and stage manager of the August-Hinrichs-Bühne , the Low German stage in Oldenburg (honorary office). He became known nationwide through the Heimatfilm popular in the 1950s, the recordings of plays by the August-Hinrichs-Bühne, Oldenburg on the Second German Television in the 1960s and, on the other hand, in smaller roles in early evening series and commercials.

He was also known throughout Northern Germany for his appearances on the radio and also on the Second German Television.
