Carsten Rump (born March 21, 1981 in Dessau ) is a German soccer coach and former soccer player .

Career

player

In his youth, Rump played for Vorwärts Dessau and SC Herford . In 1997 he moved to Arminia Bielefeld as a B-youth . After several years in various youth teams and the amateur team , Rump received a professional contract and in 2002 also played a game in the 2nd Bundesliga . After three more years at Arminia, in which he made promotion to the Regionalliga Nord with the amateur team in 2004 , Rump moved to league rivals VfB Lübeck in 2005, where he immediately became a regular player and top performer.

For the 2008/09 season Rump moved back to Arminia Bielefeld II in the NRW League . Due to many failures in the first team of Arminia, he moved back to the professional squad at the end of 2010 and played a game before ending his engagement there again at the end of the 2010/11 season. From the 2012/13 season Rump was playing assistant coach at Arminia Bielefeld II before ending his career at the end of the 2014/15 season.

Trainer

In the 2015/16 season, he and his team were promoted to the A-Youth League as a U19 coach . Rump was also assistant coach of the professional team from July 2016 to December 2018. After separating from head coach Rüdiger Rehm in October 2016, Rump temporarily led the training of the professional team. He had his first competitive game as a professional Arminia coach in the second DFB Cup round in a 1-0 away win at Dynamo Dresden . On October 28, 2016, his team achieved their first win of the season in the 2nd division with a 1-0 win against SV Sandhausen . With the engagement of Jürgen Kramny as the new head coach on November 15, 2016, Rump's engagement as an interim coach ended. After his release on March 14, 2017, Rump again took over the licensed team on an interim basis until March 20, when Jeff Saibene took over the coaching position to protect Arminia from relegation to the 3rd division . Rump became known throughout Germany when he was able to motivate his team in the dressing room address on May 14, 2017 before the home game against the promoted candidate Eintracht Braunschweig on the penultimate match day of the season that they beat the opponent 6-0. After coach Jeff Saibene was released on December 10, 2018 because of a series of 10 games without a win, Rump was also released with the prospect of another post at Arminia as assistant coach of the professional team.

In July 2019, FC Ingolstadt 04 , relegated to the 3rd division, announced the commitment of Rump as assistant coach under Jeff Saibene, who had also moved to Ingolstadt.

On March 9, 2020, FC Ingolstadt 04 prematurely ended the collaboration with assistant coach Carsten Rump and coach Jeff Saibene.

Life

Parallel to his football career, Rump completed vocational training as a sports and fitness clerk at Arminia Bielefeld. He worked as an accountant in the DSC office. In addition to his coaching activity, Rump was head of sponsorship and advertising at Arminia Bielefeld's soccer school until summer 2016.
