Career

Player career

Kramny, who was born in the Stuttgart district of Bad Cannstatt , began his football career as a youth at Spvgg 07 Ludwigsburg and was brought to VfB Stuttgart in the mid-1980s . From the 1990/91 season he was a member of the professional squad of VfB, but was only used irregularly (14 games) in the Bundesliga . In 1992, Kramny moved as German champions to league rivals 1. FC Nürnberg , who initially signed him on loan. There he convinced in the relegation battle and played 28 league games by the summer of 1993. Together with returnees André Golke , he then moved permanently from Swabia to FCN, with whom he signed a two-year contract. In the summer of 1994 he was relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga with the club ; there, too, he fought against relegation.

After his contract expired, Kramny moved to 1. FC Saarbrücken in the summer of 1995 , who took him on as the successor to Jörg Reeb , who was signed by Arminia Bielefeld . Despite the license withdrawal for the club, he stayed with FCS, for which he played two seasons in the Regionalliga West / Southwest .

In June 1997 Kramny signed a contract with the then second division club 1. FSV Mainz 05 , although he had already been in advanced negotiations with the competitors SG Wattenscheid 09 and FC St. Pauli . Although his advocate, coach Reinhard Saftig , had already been on leave in August of that year, Kramny established himself as a regular player and was a constant among the coaches during the season - Manfred Lorenz , Dietmar Constantini and Wolfgang Frank . In the following years he was usually in the middle of the table with the club. In the spring of 2001, the club, which was in relegation battle, separated from coach Eckhard Krautzun and installed the injured defender Jürgen Klopp as his successor . Under his leadership, the league succeeded. In the 2003/04 season, Kramny contributed three goals in 29 league games to promotion to the Bundesliga, and in the following season he played 21 games for the club. He then left the club after eight seasons.

Although Kramny was offered the post of A-junior coach in the summer of 2005 after his contract in Mainz had expired, he initially moved to SV Darmstadt 98 . After half a year he came back to the 05ers who used him in the top division team. In 2006 he finally took up the coaching position of the A-youth.

From 1986 to 1990 he played 31 times for German national youth soccer teams .

Coaching career

At the beginning of the 2008/09 season Kramny was under Jørn Andersen assistant coach at 1. FSV Mainz 05 , but despite the successful return to the Bundesliga when he resigned because of internal disagreements before the start of the Bundesliga season.

For the 2010/11 season Kramny returned to VfB Stuttgart as coach of the U-19 team. On October 13, 2010 he became the assistant coach of the Bundesliga team of the new head coach Jens Keller after the dismissal of Christian Gross . After Keller was released, Kramny took over again on December 12, 2010 as coach of VfB's A youth team. For the 2011/12 season he was the new coach of the second team at VfB Stuttgart, which was competing in the professional third division . His contract ran until 2017.

On November 24, 2015, Kramny initially took over as interim coach of the VfB Bundesliga team, which was in 16th place in the table, from the previously dismissed Alexander Zorniger . After scoring five points with the team in the last four games of the first half of the season and reaching the DFB Cup quarter-finals, VfB Stuttgart converted the agreement with Kramny, which ran until 2017, into a head coach contract. Because the team fell back to 17th place despite a streak of victories in the meantime and relegated on May 14, 2016, the last match day, his engagement ended according to the contract. Kramny had temporarily looked after two teams in one season that were relegated at the end of the season - the first VfB team in the 2nd Bundesliga, the second team in the fourth-class Regionalliga Süd.

From November 15, 2016 to March 14, 2017 he was the head coach of the second division Arminia Bielefeld . His contract initially ran until the end of the 2016/17 season , in the event of relegation, the contract would have run for another season.

On July 16, 2020, Kramny signed a two-year contract as a U19 coach at the Eintracht Frankfurt youth training center .
