The Castilla District is located in the province of Piura of Piura Region in northwestern Peru . The district has an area of 659 km². At the 2017 census, 160,201 people lived in the district. In 1993 the population was 91,442, in 2007 123,692. The administrative seat is in Castilla . The city is almost congruent with the district. The River Piura separates Castilla from Piura on the west bank . In the east of the district there is a desert landscape. The Universidad Nacional de Piura and the Aeropuerto Capitan FAP Guillermo Concha Iberico airport are located in Castilla .
Geographical location
The Castilla district is located in the central east of the Piura province. It includes the eastern part of the Piura metropolitan area. In the west the district borders on the district Piura , in the north on the district Tambogrande , in the east on the district Chulucanas ( province Morropón ) and in the south on the district Catacaos .
