The province of Morropón is one of eight provinces in the administrative region of Piura in northwestern Peru . The province of Morropón covers an area of 3817.92 km². At the 2017 census, 162,027 people lived in the province. In 1993 the population was 163,052, in 2007 159,693.
Geographical location
The province of Morropón is divided into two parts by the Piura River . The province of Morropón borders the province of Ayabaca in the north, the province of Huancabamba in the east, the region of Lambayeque in the south and the province of Piura in the west . The capital of the province is Chulucanas .
Administrative division
The province of Morrópon is divided into 10 districts. The district of Chulucanas is the seat of the provincial administration.
