Cavendish (family)

Cavendish is the name of a British aristocratic family that comes from the town of Cavendish in Suffolk , England and is named after him.

The family has been one of the richest and most influential aristocratic families in England since the 16th century. It goes back to Sir John Cavendish (around 1346-1381). The current head of the family is Peregrine Cavendish, 12th Duke of Devonshire (* 1944). Its headquarters are in Chatsworth House near Bakewell in Derbyshire .
