The district of Ccatca (alternative spelling: District Ccatcca ) is located in the province of Quispicanchi in the Cusco region in south-central Peru . The district was established on June 21, 1825. It has an area of ​​307.72 km². At the 2017 census, there were 13,295 residents in the district. In 1993 the population was 9919, in 2007 it was 14,346. The district administration is located in the 3700  m high village of Ccatcca with 653 inhabitants (as of 2017). Ccatcca is located 43 km east of the regional capital Cusco .

Geographical location

The district of Ccatca is located in the west of the province of Quispicanchi. It lies north of the Cordillera Vilcanota and includes the catchment area of the Río Cacta, a left tributary of the Río Mapacho (upper reaches of the Río Yavero / Río Paucartambo).

The district of Ccatca borders in the southwest on the districts of Quiquijana and Urcos , in the northwest on the districts Calcay and Huancarani , in the north on the district Colquepata , in the northeast on the districts Paucartambo and Ccarhuayo and in the southeast on the district Ocongate .
