Chad Wiseman (born March 25, 1981 in Burlington , Ontario ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player and current coach and functionary, who played ten games for the San Jose Sharks and New York Rangers in the course of his active career between 1998 and 2015 of the National Hockey League , but played mainly in the American Hockey League on the position of left winger . Wiseman has been the head coach and general manager of the Metropolitan Riveters of the National Women's Hockey League since summer 2015 .
Career
Wiseman initially played for three years from 1998 to 2000 with the Mississauga IceDogs in the Ontario Hockey League . Meanwhile, he had already been selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2000 by the San Jose Sharks in the eighth round in 246th position, but moved again within the OHL to the Plymouth Whalers as part of the OHL Priority Draft 2000 .
For the 2001/02 season , the Sharks committed the winger and initially used him with the Cleveland Barons in the American Hockey League . There he spent two seasons and also came to four appearances in the NHL during the 2002/03 season . Before the start of the 2003/04 season , the Sharks transferred him to the New York Rangers in exchange for the Swede Nils Ekman . For the organization of the Rangers, the Canadian played until the end of the 2005/06 season and only played five NHL games. Mainly he ran on in the AHL for the Hartford Wolf Pack . In the summer of 2006, he signed as a free agent with the Washington Capitals , with their farm team , the Hershey Bears , he reached the Calder Cup final series of the AHL playoffs , but failed at the Hamilton Bulldogs .
For the 2007/08 season Wiseman moved to Europe in the DEL to the Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg , where he received a one-year contract. Due to injuries, he could only play in 28 games, but scored 23 points scorer. After the end of the season he returned to North America, where he signed a contract with the New Jersey Devils and played for their farm team, the Lowell Devils , in the AHL. In the course of the following season he was signed by the Springfield Falcons before returning to the Devils organization in the summer of 2010. There he was active for the following three years for their new farm team, the Albany Devils .
For the 2013/14 season, the Canadian moved abroad again and initially spent one season with the Swedish third division club Östersunds IK . He spent his last professional season at the Japanese club Nippon Paper Cranes in the Asia League Ice Hockey before ending his active career at the age of 34. Wiseman then moved behind the gang and became head coach and general manager of the Metropolitan Riveters from the National Women's Hockey League .
