T-150K in Germany

The company was established at the beginning of the 1930s as a tractor factory on the instructions of the Chairman of the Supreme Economic Council , Grigori Konstantinowitsch Ordzhonikidze . The construction of the plant began, then about 15 kilometers outside of Kharkiv, in January 1930. At that time the company was still called Югтракторостроя (Yugtrakorostroja). The first tractor left the factory on October 1, 1931. It was a SChTS-15/30 , a 30 hp tractor that was also being built in the Stalingrad tractor factory at the same time .

In 1937, the factory began manufacturing the SChTS-NATI chain tractor , which had also previously been manufactured in Stalingrad. In November 1941 the tractor factory had to be evacuated before the approaching German troops. At the new location in the Altai Mountains on the border with Kazakhstan , the Altaiski Traktorny Sawod was built , which is still in production today. The production of the SChTS-NATI was also continued at the new location.

After the German troops left the area, production was rebuilt in Kharkiv. The DT-54 chain tractor rolled off the production line in 1949 and was built almost a million times in various factories by 1979. By 1954, 100,000 of the machines were built in Kharkiv. From 1950 the ChTS-7 wheel tractor also rolled off the production line.

Heavy military chain trucks were also built after the war . From 1953 ChTS developed the AT-L traction device , which was also used in the East German NVA . Series production began in 1955. In 1958 the company began exporting various machines, including to China and Bulgaria. Production of the DT-20 began at the same time . In 1962 the production of the more powerful T-74 chain tractor begins , in 1966 the T-25 , which is still built in the Vladimirsky Traktorny Sawod , is produced for several years . In 1967 the one millionth tugboat in the company's history was manufactured.

In 1973 the production of the well-known T-150K begins , which was also imported into the GDR and is still being built today in a modified form. Two million tractors had been built by 1982. In 1983, the T-150, a version of the T-150K with a crawler track, was also offered. In 1989 the production of mini tractors with eight to 12 HP output begins.

Today ChTS manufactures wheel tractors with outputs from 35 to 210 HP as well as two different chain tractors. Engines from the Jaroslawski Motorny Sawod are also used, including the eight-cylinder JaMZ-238 diesel engine . In addition, a whole range of special machines based on these tractors is offered, including sweepers , snow blowers , construction machinery and snow plows .
