Charles Edwards (born October 1, 1969 in Haslemere , Surrey , England ) is a British actor .

Life

Charles Edwars is the youngest of four brothers. He completed his education at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London , which he successfully completed in 1992.

At the age of 24, Edwards began acting as a theater actor and appeared in a number of Shakespeare plays. His engagements have taken him to the stages of the Globe Theater and the Royal National Theater in London. His title role in the stage production The 39 Steps , which Edwards played on the theaters of Great Britain in 2005, also took him to Boston in 2007 and to Broadway in New York City in 2008 . This makes Edwards the only actor from the original British production who was then also involved in the performance of the piece in the United States .

As a film and television actor, Edwards impersonated roles in productions such as Batman Begins , A Perfect Husband , Monarch of the Glen , Colditz - Escape to Freedom and Inspector Barnaby . In the 2011 television film Holy Flying Circus , Edwards took on the role of actor Michael Palin . From 2012 to 2013 Edwards appeared in seven episodes of the television series Downton Abbey .
