Charlie Murphy
Charles Quinton "Charlie" Murphy (born July 12, 1959 in Brooklyn , New York City , † April 12, 2017 in New York City) was an American actor , writer and comedian . He was the older brother of actor Eddie Murphy .
Life
Charlie Murphy served in the US Navy until 1984 . He later gained notoriety primarily through his appearances on Chappelle's Show . There he was seen in extremely ironic skits and told stories that were described as real about his time in Hollywood with his brother. Among other things, he played basketball against the musician Prince and fought with Rick James , also a musician (who largely confirmed Murphy's stories). He also moderated the so-called "Lost Episodes" of the Chappelle's Show.
Charlie Murphy can be heard as a feature on the song "Church" from the album "Real Talk" by Fabolous . He also voiced his voice for Budweiser Commercials and the pimp Jizzy-B in the video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas .
Charlie Murphy had had his own TV show on BET since July 2007, called We Got to Do Better , which was renamed due to controversy (previously title: Hot Ghetto Mess ). On the side, Charlie toured as a stand-up comedian .
Charlie Murphy died of leukemia on April 12, 2017, at the age of 57 .
