Charlie Cook (born October 22, 1982 in Port Huron , Michigan ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with VIK Västerås HK in HockeyAllsvenskan since May 2015 .

Career

Charlie Cook began his career as a hockey player with the Soo Indians, for whom he was active from 1999 to 2001 in the junior league North American Hockey League . He then attended Cornell University from 2001 to 2005 , for whose ice hockey team he played parallel in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . In 2003 and 2005 he won the championship of the college league ECAC Hockey with the team . Towards the end of the 2004/05 season , the defender for the Philadelphia Phantoms of the American Hockey League made his professional ice hockey debut. With the team he immediately won the Calder Cup in the playoffs . After he also spent the following season with the Phantoms, he played in the 2006/07 season for league rivals Binghamton Senators .

The 2007/08 season began Cook with HIFK Helsinki in the Finnish SM-liiga . For the team he scored two goals and 13 assists in 38 games before ending the season at HC Sparta Prague in the Czech Extra League. For the 2008/09 season he returned to the SM-liiga, where he received a contract with Tappara Tampere . However, he only stayed there for a short time before standing on the ice for league rivals Lukko Rauma for a year and a half . In the 2010/11 season he played for MODO Hockey in the Swedish Elitserien and then for HC Davos and SCL Tigers in the Swiss National League A . For the 2011/12 season , the American was signed by the Hamburg Freezers from the German Ice Hockey League . After his contract in Hamburg was not renewed, Cook moved back to the USA and most recently played for the Las Vegas Wranglers in the ECHL . After a year without a club, Cook signed a contract with the Swedish club VIK Västerås HK from the second-rate HockeyAllsvenskan in May 2015 .
