Chester Edwin Bryan (born October 29, 1859 in London , Ohio ; † January 11, 1944 there ) was an American newspaper publisher and politician ( Democratic Party ). He was Ohio Treasurer of State from 1917 to 1919 .

Career

Chester Edwin Bryan, son of Martha S. Masterson (1833-1905) and Marcellus Leroy Bryan (1829-1902), was born and raised in Madison County about two years before the outbreak of the civil war . His father founded the Madison County Democrat in 1857 . Bryan later followed his father as an editor and publisher. He joined the Democratic Party. In this context, he took part in both the Democratic State Conventions and the Democratic National Conventions . He chaired the Democratic Party in Madison County. He was also the president of three different state editorial associations in Ohio. Bryan was elected Treasurer of State of Ohio in 1916. He held the post for a two-year term from January 1917 to January 1919. Bryan died during World War II and was then buried in Kirkwood Cemetery , London.

He was married to Maria Dailey (1863-1950).
