Peter Brady (politician)

Peter Brady (* 1829 in Norwalk , Ohio ; † unknown) was an American politician ( Democratic Party ). He was a member of the Ohio General Assembly and was Treasurer of State of Ohio from 1884 to 1886 .

Career

Peter Brady was born in Huron County . Nothing is known about his youth. When he was 19, he moved to Bellevue, Ohio. For the next 35 years he worked in the hardware business . Brady was a co-founder of the Bellevue Industrial Savings and Loan Association and ran the Bourdette Hotel for two years . He was a member of Bellevue City Council and was elected mayor of Bellevue four times. In 1882 he was for the Sandusky County in the Ohio House of Representatives elected and re-elected 1,883th The Democratic Party nominated him in 1883 for the office of Treasurer of State of Ohio. In the following election that year he defeated Republican John C. Brown with 359,837 to 348,399 votes. He held the post for a two-year term from January 1884 to January 1886. In his re-election in 1885, he suffered a defeat to John C. Brown.

Brady was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE) and married Mina Gladys Smith, who was born in Iowa .
